One person in sixty billion who have ever been alive
Insignificance is merely the tip of a much, much larger iceberg
One person can no longer be compared to the gandure of a grain of sand
But sometimes the biggest, most blatant things can be the hardest to see...
"It's a lot easier in the palm of your hand.
In the world in your head,in a land of facts and figures.
Take a smaller role; lose yourself in the fear and overwhelming chasm of life."
But the figures still remain, you cannot deny fate,
Ten million differences swimming in a sea of a thousand trillion insignificances
Just as two wrongs cannot make a right, making anything of life will not make the difference
One person, many dreams, many desires, many ideas; no hope
When you are just a number, no matter what you do; its always the 'smaller role'
"Fear drives the consolidation of numbers, desperation desires the comfort of facts,
But to go a different way; to 'deny fate'
That is the real challenge."
Fate is your constant; it is not your variable to change on a whim
You are bound to what you have done, what you are doing, and what you WILL do
You shall grow, you shall wither, and you shall die
Nothing you do, or say, or act upon can deny fate in the way you wish
Such is the way of the insignificance of life
Fate plays a cruel joke on those who would attempt to defy its unbreakable prison cell
"If you bind yourself, deny yourself, then only you can set yourself free.
If you paint yourself as insignificant
Then you cannot paint your key."
Are you the one to unlock that cell-door? Are you the one to break the inevitable?
Can you face death and tell him that you did it 'your way'
Can you do that and be sure that he won't laugh in your face?
If there is indeed uncertainty in everything, then surely there is uncertainty in the certain
Fate may then be evaded; the figures changed; the facts corrupted
Then it is only there if you believe it so; you are as significant as you make yourself...
"I shall return death's laughter,
If there was laughter in my life.
The fate and figures and facts,
Different names for the same fear.
We can make ourselves courageous.
Other definitions of your own significance
Are insignificant."
And so certainty is defeated...

Can you do that and be sure that he won't laugh in your face?"
I really like these 2 lines, and the whole message (for me, at least) of the poem... good luck on your submission.
